"2024.02.24Electronics03": In January, 2024, I finally finished creating a new set of samples for my 88 key sampler: Electronics. That's the most definitive selection of my electroacoustic/electronic (m)usic from a 48 year period in sample form that I've made yet. Playing these samples produces what might be called a Quodlibet, a medley of my own work. Then I made a 44 minute movie, 30 seconds per sample, going through the keyboard from lowest to highest note & associating the loops with relevan visuals. This movie, in silent form, is meant to be projected while I play the samples live. The next phase was to make a movie of a playing of the samples with excerpts from the 1st movie. That became "Electronics 01". I was then joined by clarinetist April Gilmore for a duet in which I played the Electronics samples & other prefabricated 'voices' provided by the sampler while April played bass clarinet, Bb clarinet, & recorder. That was "Electronics + April", more specifically "Electronics 02". Then we come to this, "Electronics 03" or "2024.02.24Electronics03". This was the 1st recording of me playing ONLY the Electronics samples on the 88 key sampler, unlike 01 & 02, but adding my "troAc Fragm" samples on my ASR-X sampler along with a Micro-Korg. This, then, becomes the most extravagant of the Electronics series, aurally, yet. As with the original Electronics & Electronics 01 I added relevant visuals too. I also added irrelevant viuals - viz most of the editing program's effects & transitions. These are hoped to offset the dullness of just watching me play (this time with 4 cameras). From now on, any future solo playings will probably just be audio recorded. This quodlibet pulls together a large variety of both aurally & conceptually different materials. I like to think that few other electronic (m)usicians have produced such a diversity. - February 25, 2024E.V. notes from tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE
